05 AugHeels and Happiness

Went to Skylon, a buzzy bar/restaurant above the Royal Festival last night for celebratory drinks with my agent . Loved writing that so I am going to do it again………. Celebratory drinks with my agent. Dreams really do come true – more to follow-  but nevertheless I have something to complain about. The Chairs.

The last time I sat in a chair that low, which pitched me backwards so far that I could see the brush strokes on the ceiling I had my legs in stirrups. Is this a new high end concept for busy South Bank women – have a cocktail and a smear test at the same time ?

To make matters worse I currently have a twisted knee and was wearing my new very happening high heeled Italian shoes which make me an unwieldy 6 foot 1 inch tall. To get out of the chair without being able to flex my knee involved rolling sideways onto the  snack table, caterpillaring onto the air conditioning unit and doing a big backwards thrust upward using my elbows. This gets me to my feet but aggravates the knee so I had to accompany this manoeuvre with a groan/shout of pain disguised as a cough. I felt like the cabaret by the time I’d staggered out of there in my heels.

Excellent night, though. One to remember.
