Dr Denis, yes Denis not Denise, Walsh believes that pain in childbirth makes the mother and new baby bond stronger, http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/jul/12/pregnancy-pain-natural-birth-yoga. Maybe demented Dr Denis suffered from constipation once so he thinks he knows what he’s talking about?
Any expectant mums packing their hospital/ labour bag need to make room for one more thing among the muslin cloths, anti bacterial wipes, whale music CD and glucose tablets – a nutcracker.
Because if pain during labour makes you a better parent then surely Dad will be needing some, too ?

I read that news item yesterday and like you was astonished. It seems to go without saying that to push a baby out of your body through a 10cm hole is not going to be a walk in the park!( Even now, past childbearing age ,my pelvic floor muscles are squeezing themselves shut at the mere thought!!) If it’s true that pain during birth secures a bond between mother and baby how does this explain the bond with children born via elected sections, IVF or children that are adopted?
When I mentioned sections in my reply I meant sections that are planned , emergencies or medically advised. Sorry about not making that clear.
